The World Cup 2019 clash between India and New Zealand here on Thursday has been delayed due to rain.
In the initial stages, the downpour was so heavy that it seemed like there would be no play today.
In some positive news for cricket lovers, the rain has stopped for the moment and the covers are slowly coming off here, although the main pitch is still covered. The inspection will be at 11.30 UK Time, which means 4 PM IST. The skies are still overcast.
It may be mentioned that this will be a real test for the 'Men in Blue' as New Zealand announced themselves with a bang with a thumping 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka chasing 137 within 17 overs. Though they were pushed against Bangladesh, they registered a comprehensive win over Afghanistan.
So, far the two teams have met seven times in all World Cup editions and New Zealand hold an edge of 4-3 against India. Thus, Virat Kohli would be looking to better that record.
It may be mentioned India and New Zealand, the only two unbeaten sides in the ongoing World Cup so far, will look to dominate each other and prove a point when they meet on Thursday at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The Black Caps have been absolutely ruthless in the three games they have played so far in the tournament.
