The 47th edition of the All Assam Inter-District Chess Championship, dedicated to women and the under-17 categories, reached its thrilling conclusion on Monday after several days of intense competition at the Paraghar Chaliha Auditorium in Digboi, Tinsukia District.
Organized by the Gurukul Chess Academy, Digboi, in collaboration with the Parents Group of Chess Academy, Senior Chess Players of Digboi, and Rotary Club Digboi, under the auspices of the All Assam Chess Association, the championship witnessed the spirited participation of over 141 chess enthusiasts representing 11 districts of Assam.
Pallab Sharma, Vice President of the All Assam Chess Association Tinsukia District Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the turnout, highlighting the championship's crucial role in talent identification and development. "The qualified players will now progress to the state level, and from there, they will have the opportunity to compete at the national level," Sharma stated.
The conclusion of the event saw the presence of several distinguished personalities from Assam, including renowned chess player Dr. Noni Gopal Singh, noted social worker Diganta Saikia, President of Digboi Rotary Club Trilok Gupta, among others.
Pallab Sharma announced cash prizes alongside trophies for the winners, runners-up, and outstanding performers, recognizing their skill and dedication to the game.
