The Indian cricket team returned home to a hero's welcome on Thursday (July 4) morning, landing in New Delhi on a special Air India chartered plane from Barbados.
After clinching the T20 World Cup trophy, the team arrived in their homeland, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of fans.
The Men in Blue were left stranded in Barbados for four days after winning the coveted title with the airport shut down due to Hurricane Beryl. Once the weather improved, the chartered flight was sent to Barbados to bring the World Champions back home.
The team had been eagerly awaited on the Caribbean island for three days following their World Cup victory.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a celebratory video capturing the moment the players disembarked from the chartered plane, trophy in tow.
As the players emerged from the airport, a large group of fans cheered in celebration of their champions.
Captain Rohit Sharma, leading the team with the trophy held high, was the first to step out, followed by other team members who were met with an outpouring of admiration and excitement.
Virat Kohli, one of the standout players of the tournament, received an especially warm reception. The star cricketer waved to the fans.
The airport buzzed with chants and cheers as fans expressed their pride and joy in the team's remarkable achievement.
