GUWAHATI: The Assam-Mizoram border violence, one of the biggest interstate border violence of recent times has completed one month. The violence that shook the Northeastern states made the centre to sit across the table with the state governments to take a re-look on the geo-political complexity and that of a defined border demarcation.
Vaibhav Nimbalkar, the former Superintendent of Police of Cachar district got seriously injured in exchange of bullets between Assam and Mizoram Police in the disputed area of Vairengte which left six other police personnel and one civilians killed. After that the 2009 batch IPS officer was airlifted to Mumbai and underwent surgery at Kokilaben Ambani hospital in Andheri.
For the first time after one month of the tragedy, Vaibhav Nimbalkar took to social media to express his feelings. In a Facebook post, Nimbalkar writes:
“When life throws you a bouncer, you bounce back! l am immensely grateful to be here well, alive and kicking (well, almost but not quite). I am making great progress in my recovery and cannot thank Shri Satguru, Prahlad dada, friends, colleagues, seniors, well-wishers, Jeevanvidya enough for supporting us during this difficult time, praying for us and thinking about my well-being. I am grateful! …… The past month has been a time of contemplation; how at 1 moment you are fine and in the next a bullet has hit you, in 1 minute you’re frantically thinking about ways to stop the madness, in 1 hour you’re being rescued, in 1 day you’re flying to Mumbai for treatment, in 1 week, fully immobilised awaiting your next surgery, in 1 month you’re walking and looking forward to leave the hospital and simply amazed to see where life leads you in 1 year...”
