J Alam takes charge as Nagaland chief secretary

KOHIMA: The Nagaland government today handed over charge of state chief secretary to J Alam following the demise of incumbent Temjen Toy on Thursday.

Under secretary S Athsangla notified that the 1991 batch Nagaland cadre IAS officer, who was an additional chief secretary to chief minister and development commissioner, will hold the charge of chief secretary with immediate effect.

Toy was suffering from cancer and had undergone treatment in New York. He passed away shortly after returning to the state.

He was laid to rest here in a state funeral at his official residence.

Toy, who had joined the IAS in 1989, had assumed the charge as chief secretary of Nagaland in 2018.
