AIZAWL: As many as two Myanmarese nationals were arrested in Mizoram's Lawngtlai district with weapons and ammunition.
Acting on specific information, Assam Rifles and the Police joint team conducts an operation involving the exchange of weapons near Laitlang on the Indo-Myanmar border on September 15.
The team laid an ambush along the Sekul-Lui river.
During the operation when a boat approached the river, the team stopped it and conducted a thorough search, recovering an automatic rifle of Myanmarese origin, a magazine, and 26 rounds of ammunition.

The operation was carried out in Sekul-Lui River in between Village Zochachhuah and Varang of Lawngtlai district.
On the other hand, 15 cases of foreign cigarettes approximate cost of Rs 19,50,000/ recovered in Champhai District on the same day.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs Department.
