AGARTALA: The Tripura Police has filed a suo moto complaint against Trinamool Congress MPs Abhishek Banerjee, Dola Sen, Bratya Basu and other party leaders for ‘obstructing police personnel from carrying on with their duty’.
The case been filed in Khowai Police Station in Khowai district under 77/2021under section186/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the exercise of his official functions shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with a fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both, according to the section.

Notably on August 8, Trinamool Congress leader Sri Debangsu Bhattachariee and 13 (Thirteen) others were detained under section 188 of IPC and Section 03 of the Epidemic Disease Act.
According to the FIR, the TMC leaders misbehaved with the Additional SP and SDPO and also shouted at police personnel by calling them ‘Dalal’ (broker) of BJP party.
Abhishek Banerjee and TMC workers were attacked in separate incidents last week in Tripura, where the party is attempting to broaden its support ahead of the 2023 assembly elections.
Mamata Banerjee, the Bengal chief minister claimed that the recent attacks in Tripura on Abhishek Banerjee and others were carried out on the orders of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said that such acts would not cow her down.
