The 10,323 teachers who have been terminated followed by an Apex Court judgment threatened the Tripura government to resolve their financial issues at the earliest or to face intensified stir. The Teachers, on Friday, despite heavy rainfall and harsh weather, gathered in front of a Mahatma Gandhi’s bust located in front of the Assam Rifles sector headquarters in Agartala and demanded security of their jobs. The teachers were left jobless, followed by a Supreme Court judgment on March 31 last.

The SC verdict ruled that there were glitches in the recruitment process of the 10,323 teachers. The Supreme Court, in its last verdict on the matter clearly stated that from March 31, 2020 there jobs would not remain valid as NCTE guidelines were not followed during the recruitment. Earlier, the 10,323 teachers faced the same verdict at Tripura High Court. The state government, however, on humanitarian ground assured to move an interlocutory application seeking some relaxations to absorb the teachers in other departmental posts.
