AGARTALA: The Tripura government on Saturday announced that free education will be provided to all those children who lost their parents due to COVID-19.
The Chief Minister Biplab Kr Deb stated that under the ‘Mukhyamantri Balya Seva Prakalpa’, the state government will take the responsibility of providing free education to the children till they become adults.
An amount of Rs3,500 will be provided every month to those children who live with their relatives instead of orphanages till they turn 18 , added the Chief Minister.

“In many cases, close relative are found taking care of orphans instead of them living in orphanages. In such cases, the state government will pay Rs 3,500 to them monthly till they turn 18”, he said.
The Chief Minister further stated that the government will provide a laptop or a tablet to the children after they pass out 10 and 12 boards to aid them in their higher studies.
The state will also provide Rs 50,000 as one-time support for the marriage of girls who have lost their parents, added Deb.
Tripura, so far, has recorded 50477 cases of COVID-19 with 6956 active cases. A total of 43286 patients have recovered while 508 succumbed to the virus.
