Tripura: Ex-youth Congress chief forms new party; to support Pradyot Manikya in assembly polls

AGARTALA: Tripura Youth Congress president Pujan Biswas has formed his own political party - Tripura Democratic Front (TDF) - with the breakaway faction of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

TDF appointed Pujan Biswas as its president.

TDF has also announced their support to Tripura royal scion Pradyot Manikya's Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) in the upcoming assembly election.

Pujan Biswas, son of TPCC outgoing state president Pijush Kanti Biswas, resigned from the party's youth wing last week accusing its central leadership of not extending support to expand the party in the state for last two years.

Pijush Kanti Biswas also resigned from his position as president including senior leader Tapas De and a few other accusing the party central leadership of trying to persuade them not to oppose the CPM.

Pijush Kanti and others have also joined TDF.
