United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) on Thursday announced that it is going to release Ritul Saikia within next few days. Saikia is an employee of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) who was abducted from Assam last month.
The announcement from the outfit came after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday appealed to ULFA(I) Chief Paresh Baruah to release Saikia at the earliest.
During the press conference the Chief Minister stressed on the plight of Saikia’s family after his abduction and humbly requested the ULFA (I) Chief to consider releasing Saikia.
Reportedly, Baruah responded immediately after the appeal and assured that Saikia shall be soon reunited with his family. Saikia was abducted by the outfit on April 21 along with two colleagues Mohini Mohan Gogoi and Alakesh Saikia), from ONGC’s workover rig site.
