Youth congress stages “Dispur gherao andolan”, several leaders detained

The youth congress on Saturday sataged massive protest in Guwahati against the SI exam scam. The protestors gathered at the Manabendra Sarma Complex at Dispur and staged protest “Dispur gherao andolan.”
Besides the youth congress leaders, Lok Sabha MP from Kaliabor Gaurav Gogoi, former Assam minister Rokibul Hussain and Chaygaon MLA Rekibbuddin Ahmed took part in the protest.
Addressing the gathering, Rokibul Hussain demanded the resignation of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Hundreds of policemen and paramilitary forces were deployed to stop the protestors marching towards Dispur. Several barricades were erected right in front of the Manabendra Sarma complex.
As the protestors started marching towards Dispur, security forces stopped them from crossing over the barricades. A couple of protestors were also injured in the scuffle with police. The protestors tried their best to cross the barricades shouting anti Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slogan.
