Eleven cases of post-poll violence were reported from different parts of Tripura in the last 24 hours and four people have been arrested in connection with a clash between political workers. The state has been witnessing attacks and arson since the announcement of results on March 3 of the just-concluded Assembly elections. The BJP demolished the Left citadel in Tripura, winning a two-third majority with its ally, the IPFT. Police said measures are being taken to "contain violence". Four people were arrested from the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura district yesterday in connection with a clash between activists of the CPI(M) and the BJP.

Earlier, two statues of Russian communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin were pulled down in Tripura, allegedly by BJP supporters, after the election results were declared. The CPI(M) top brass, including general secretary Sitaram Yechury, took out a rally in Kolkata yesterday in protest against the vandalism.
