The CPI-M in Tripura has approached the DGP and asked him to arrange proper security for their candidates ahead of the municipality elections scheduled on December 22.
The CPI-M delegation met DGP AK Shukla ask informed that the “the current situation is not conducive for conducting the elections peacefully”.
The in a memorandum alleged that the BJP workers are threatening CPI-M candidates and are obstructing them from filing their nominations.
The memorandum read, “The BJP workers have even set up camps near the offices of the returning officers so that no Opposition party candidates can file nomination papers.”
The delegations urged the DGP to take immediate actions on the issue and provide security for the CPI-M candidates.
