The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT ), will join the national convention and demonstration of National Federation for New States (NFNS) demanding a separate state for the tribals of Tripura.
The convention will be attended by a 23 member delegation and it will be headed by IPFT cheif NC Debbarma. IPFT general secretary Mevar Kumar Jamatia will also be there.
The demonstration will be joined by 30 political parties and organisations who over the years have been demanding for seperate states in various parts of India.
IPFT leaders said that their core agenda is to get a separate Twipraland for tribals. The party came into existence in the year 1999 to pursue the demand of a new state as there was a steady decline of tribal population in the Tripura.
Some leaders stated that once the tribals were a majority in Tripura but now they have become a minority
The IPFT also stated that the NRC should be implemented in Tripura as well. It is necessary for the protections of the tribal population's interest in the state.
