‘Jati’ wins, (BJP) party loses: Pradyot Manikya DebBarma

Guwahati, February 13, 2019:

Head of Tripura’s Manikya Dynasty and leader of indigenous Tripura people, Pradyot Bikram Manikya DebBarma posted a video message on Facebook to express his gratitude to the people after the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was not tabled in the Rajya Sabha.

He congratulated and thanked the indigenous people of Tripura. “The Centre realized that consequences of the Bill’s passage would be dire, thus they did not even try to pass it”, he said.

“This is a victory of the people, and you showed the Centre that once our community gets together, all India has to take notice. This victory belongs to all of us”, he said.

“Puila jati ulo party (first 'jati', then party) was our slogan and we have proven that in a conflict between ‘jati’ and political party, the jati always wins.”

“To the BJP supporters, your own party has betrayed you out of fear. They have stabbed you in the back, despite your support for the Bill”. He also added that a victory-rally should be organized to show how the collective efforts of the Tiprasa community can move proverbial mountains and urged people from all political parties to attend the rally.
