President Droupadi Murmu awards North Tripura for Water Conservation Excellence

North Tripura District has once again earned national recognition by being awarded the Best Performing District in the North East & Hilly Zone under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti. 
North District Adminstration on Facebook written that the award was presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu to District Magistrate Chandni Chandran at an event held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.


As part of the accolade, the district has also received a Rs 2 crore award for its extraordinary achievement in constructing over 11,000 water conservation structures between February 2025 and May 2025—a milestone that highlights the region’s commitment to sustainable water management.


Officials noted that this achievement was made possible through coordinated efforts across departments, the proactive involvement of public representatives, and the enthusiastic participation of local residents. The district administration expressed gratitude to all stakeholders whose collective dedication led to this national milestone.
