Guwahati, October 22, 2018:

Son of the last Tripura king has moved a writ petition in the Supreme Court of India demanding National Register of Citizens in the state.

Pradyot Debbarman, son of the last king of Tripura Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya who is the working president of the Tripura Congress said there cannot be any different rules for different states when it comes to citizenship in the country.

He added that if the NRC is implement in Tripura then the demand for a separate state known as Tipraland will "dilute". He added that the demand arose because people in Tripura felt that they have lost all rights within the state.

Debbarman added that it was only upto the SC to decide what the cutoff date for the state should be
