Uncertain time tends to throw up many an unprecedented situation - as it happened in Dharmanagar under North Tripura District.
The Administration faced a serious dilemma here when the officials went to pick up a Covid19 positive couple from Nayapara in Dharmanagar area today.
Manik Pal and his wife Sabita Pal returned to their home at Nayapara, Tripura from Guwahati on July 3 last. As per norms, their samples were collected and both of them were found to be Covid19 positive. The report arrived on Sunday – and today Police went to their house to send them to Kumarghat Covid19 Center for treatment. And then the problem –a real problem indeed arose.
It was not that the couple was reluctant to go to Covid19 centre – however, they demanded that his entire family – his bedridden and ailing parents and baby girl – should also be shifted to the Covid19 centre in Tripura.

“We have to take care of our ailing and bedridden parents. Moreover, we have a two-and-half-year-old girl child. If we leave them here and move to Covid19 center at Kumarghat who would look after the baby and sick parents”, Manik Pal argued.
Pal added, he and his wife are ready to shift to Kumarghat Covid Center – but administration must allow his ailing parents and baby girl to stay with them at the Centre so that they can take care of them.
The administration was in a fix. Later, one Deputy Collector and Magistrate (DCM), Tripura found the couple’s arguments could not be ruled out and decided to seal the house and start Couple’s treatment keeping them at their house.
A medical team would visit them every morning and monitor their health condition as well as administer medicines. The arrangements did not go down well with the neighbours, but then what could be done in such a situation?
