An Indian army man hails from Tripura achieved martyrdom while discharging his duties at Indo-China borders. The force person—Ajoy Debbarma, a resident of Gualbari Bisramganja under Sepahijala district, died due to a sudden landslide in the snow-clad mountains at the spot where he was posted.

Reportedly, Ajoy was posted at the LAC (Line of Actual Control) where the tension between both the neighboring countries India and China had escalated leading to the additional deployment of troops by both the countries.

On May 22, after the incident, he was hospitalized. He had been, henceforth, shifted to a hospital of Arunachal Pradesh where he breathed last on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the South Tripura district organization has tightened up security arrangements in the district and also increased force deployment in the borders in order to put a check on any illegal border intrusion, a highly placed source of the South Tripura district said.

“As soon as a number of Covid 19 cases have been reported in the district, the administration has started taking strong exception to the cases related to flouting lockdown norms and health protocols. The border area has been sealed off and additional BSF jawans have been deployed in the areas identified to be most sensitive as far as border crimes are concerned”, the source told this reporter.
