Tripura | BJP ally IPFT to contest Lok Sabha elections alone

Agartala, March 6, 2019:

The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) party has announced that it will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone. The IPFT party is an ally of the ruling BJP party in Tripura.

IPFT  youth leader Shukla Charan Noatia, confirmed the information while talking to InsideNE: “Since our relationship with the BJP has hit a rocky patch, we are contesting both the Lok Sabha seats, Tripura East (any caste) and Tripura West (for STs only) in Tripura. We have not held discussions with any other national-level party."

As per party sources, a five-member committee has been formed with IPFT president NC Debbarma as the chairman to select candidates for the two seats and discuss the modalities of the election campaign.
