Guwahati, May 9, 2019:

As the West Tripura Lok Sabha Constituency gets ready to conduct repolls in 168 booths, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has expressed its dissatisfaction over the issue and informed the media that it would move the Supreme Court tomorrow.

Speaking to media persons, TPCC President Pradyot Kishore DebBarman said, "In the RO’s report, it was clearly stated that the process of elections was 'vitiated' in 433 booths of the West Tripura constituency. And, to our utter surprise suddenly the number decreased to 168. How can the election commission of India figure out an unjustifiable number?" Pradyot asked.

Debbarman further added that the lawyers of the Congress party will file a writ petition in the Supreme Court citing complaints.

He also said the party will ask the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura to hand over the footages of web-camera installed in every polling station so that the party could present those footages as evidence in the Supreme Court and also could present it in the public domain.

Legal action will also be taken against the micro-observers, poll personnel, and other staffs conspiring against the party, he warned.

Meanwhile, replying to a question on Congress’s view on the re-polls, he said, the Congress party will not leave the battlefield even though the party is not at all happy with the decision of the Election Commission of India.
