It may be mentioned here that Saha was murdered in 1983 and after investigation, a chargesheet was filed against as many as 25 persons. The trial went on for a long time, during which, eight accused died.

The murder case was delayed for the past years. Former Chief Justice Deepak Gupta had ordered to complete the case on time. The first judgement came in 2016 from the additional and session judge court, after 33 years later of that Congress MLA murder.
