At a time when the number of COVID 19 infected patients is on the surge with 130 people found to be positive for the novel coronavirus in the last two days, two incidents related to COVID has triggered panic across the state. At one end, a woman who had been found to be COVID 19 positive committed suicide in the bathroom of the GBP hospital’s flu clinic and on the other, an under-trial inmate of central correctional home inTripura tested COVID 19 positive.

How it unfolded?

According to highly placed sources in the state administration, “a woman in her fifties got admitted to the designated Flu clinic of GBP hospital Agartala with complaints of fever and cough on Monday. Her swab sample was collected and she was lodged in the isolated Flu clinic. But, to the utter surprise of everyone, the woman's body was found hanging in the lavatory of the clinic”. Sources also added that she had a history of depression and chronic kidney disease. According to reports, her swab samples were found to be positive after she was declared dead
