Former Tripura CPI (M) Minister and present MLA Badal Choudhury was brought to police custody on Wednesday noon, but was sent to GB hospital after his health started deteriorating again.

While Badal Choudhury was being taken to West Agartala Police station, he alleged that police had beaten him and his wife Namita Gope at the ILS hospital. The former minister also alleged that West Agartala police station's officer-in-charge of dragging him by the neck. Badal Choudhury's lawyer Raghunath Mukherjee told that they will take legal action against the police.

From 21 October onwards, Badal Choudhury was admitted at the ILS, a private hospital in Agartala and suffered two minor strokes during his stay. His family members said that his condition was "unstable".

While Badal Choudhury was admitted at ILS hospital on 21 October then police arrested him. But due to his ill health condition they could not forwarded him to court. On Wednesday, police brought him to ILS hospital and planned to forwarded him court.

On Wednesday noon, West Agartala police station staff under the leadership of Dy SP Ajoy Kumar Das brought Badal Choudhury to West Agartala police station. The police planned to produce Badal Choudhury at the District Court on Wednesday. But he was again sent to the hospital due to poor health.

Badal Choudhury was brought to west Agartala police station at 12.55 PM and he was again sent off to GB hospital at 1.15 pm.

CPI (M) West Tripura District Secretary Pabitra Kar has confirmed that Badal Choudhury is now admitted at the ICU unit in GB hospital and his condition is "serious". Alleging that the police has acted inhumanely, Kar has further alleged that if anything goes wrong, the police and state government will be responsible.

It may be mentioned here that bail petition of Badal Choudhury was heard by the Tripura high Court single bench on Monday.
