The rural people of different parts of Tripura are protesting against the Government decision to withdraw 61 Tripura State Rifle (TSR) camps from the different locations across the State.
Since the early 90s, the Tripura police started to established TSR camps in the interior areas and increased the number of TSR battalions to combat against insurgency in Tripura.
The earlier Left Front government also withdrew the AFSPA from Tripura but the security camps are still in the interior areas.
But the present-day BJP Government in Tripura has decided to withdraw 61 camps, and the process has been started.
The people of different localities are opposing the Government decision. They are blocking the roads and protesting against the decision of the state government.
A K Sukla, Director General of Police, issued an instruction on October 24 to withdraw the camps within 15 days. Out of 61 camps to be withdrawn, 22 are in Dhalai district.
It is also worthy mention that Dhalai District was suffered heavily due to insurgency in Tripura.

As per the order, the jawans posted in these camps will now be posted in the nearby security camps that may be run by Assam Rifles, CRPF or BSF.
The decision to withdraw Tripura State Rifles (TSR) camps ahead of crucial Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) election slated early next year, triggered reaction in the rural areas across the state that led to road blockade to prevent the move since last two days.
The opposition CPI(M) also slammed state government for this decision. CPI(M) state secretary Goutam Das alleged that the decision to withdraw the security camps before the Autonomous District Council Election is a "conspiracy", and queried
