Life is not at all hassle-free even after death and if the death caused by the COVID19 or else an infected patient died of some other reasons, the afterlife journey becomes more pathetic. At least, the way local people of the Battala Cremation ground area came out in resistance when the authorities attempted to perform the last rights of the first COVID related death described the ignorance, absence of humanity and total apathy towards the grieving family of the deceased in Tripura.

The locals claimed that the dead body would pose a bigger threat to their locality. One of the local speaking to this newspaper said, “Whatever it is. We cannot allow the dead body to be cremated here. The river Howrah is flowing beside and anytime the water may get contaminated if it is used in the final rituals”.
SDPO Anirban Das said, “Some miscreants hiding behind the local women trying to trigger panic centering the issue. We are controlling the situation and trying to complete the rituals as soon as possible”.
