SHILLONG: The Northeastern states of Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya are celebrating their Statehood days today. Under the North-Eastern Areas (Re-organisation) Act, 1971, Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya attained statehood on January 21, 1972.
On this Meghalaya Day, the state's Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that they should honour the "resolute" leaders of the state. "On Meghalaya Day, we honour our resolute leaders before us who paved way for the creation of Meghalaya. Let us recommit ourselves & carry forward their legacy with the same values & purpose that inspired them- for the future of our people. Wishing everyone a Happy Meghalaya Day!," the Chief Minister wrote in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Manipur CM N Biren Singh has pledged to work together for the prosperity of the state.
In 3 separate tweets, the Prime Minister wished the people of the 3 Northeastern states. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb extended wishes for prosperity and progress of the state.
