Five days after the CPI (M) leader Ajenda Reang was reported missing, police recovered his body, that was hanging from a tree. Ajendra was the secretary of South Amarpur Local committee of Tribal Youth Federation (TYF), a youth body under the CPM youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

He went missing from his home at Govindabari Kumar ADC village in Amarpur.

According to the police, Ajendra was found hanging from a tree in a forest at Brahmaniya Kuyri area. He was missing with his motorcycle since five days.

CPM state secretary Bijan Dhar claimed Reang's death was an act of 'political murder' and demanded proper inquiry to be conducted into the matter. Dhar also claimed that there have been at least two previous instances of political murders in the past which have been passed off as suicide cases.
