TRIPURA: MOB LYNCHING HIT THE STATE AGAIN

Fake news taking over innocent lives.

The state witnessed the second mob lynching where a man who went out to create awareness about fake news on Child abductors was brutally killed. The victims who were lynched in west Tripura were group vendors from Uttar Pradesh out of them one died and two are severely injured and were admitted to a district hospital. More than 1,000 people lynched them. The rumours of child lifters had gone viral on social media which fuelled the mob frenzy.

According to the sources, the government has asked people not to make it a political issue as it can affect the entire political system of the state. Also the internet facilities have been banned for the period of time to prevent the rumour.

Prior to this incident was the mob lynching of the driver in south Tripura who went to spread awareness about the rumours of child abductors prowling in the region. This instead turned wrong and the driver was blame to be child abductor instead and was lynched by about 1000 people to death.
