Pradyot Manikya, scion of the erstwhile Manikya dynasty of Tripura, who has been outspoken in his criticism of the Citizenship Amendment Act, has now shared a video to prove that illegal immigration really is a pressing issue in the Northeast Indian states.
Sharing a video of suspected migrants crossing the border that was reportedly shot on December 26 this year, Manikya laments that many people are speaking out against the 'CAA', but few realize how porous the Northeast Indian borders are.
Pointing out that Bangladeshi nationals often cross the Indian border nonchalantly, with scant regard for international demarcations, Manikya stated that not even an Inner Line Permit (or ILP) will stop them. "These are Bangladeshi's crossing over to India -Location -Tripura , Simna, India border at Daldali village. Do you think your ILP will stop them?", Manikya queries.

Manikya further pointed out that since they have many similar attributes to the people of Tripura, they cannot be separated from genuine citizens. "They speak same language, wear sari and cannot be identified from their features if they belong to one religion or another. How can you identify them by dress now?"
In the two videos shared by Manikya, the gang of suspected Bangladeshis can be seen walking nonchalantly across a paddy field, seemingly onto Indian soil.
It may be mentioned here that Manikya's state of Tripura has been one of the worst hit by the migration of economic migrants. The local Boroks, in the decades since independence, have been reduced an absolute minority due to the hordes of immigrants who have been crossing the international border since time immemorial.
Now, the demand for a separate 'Tipraland', a land for the indigenous people, have been intensifying ever since the state of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into to two UTs -- Jammu and Ladakh.
