Couple found dead in car in Tripura forest; police probe love affair angle
Tripura Police have launched an investigation after a young couple was found dead in an abandoned car in a forested area near Garjee in Gomati district on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Kumar said that personnel on routine patrol noticed the vehicle and, upon inspection, found a girl and a boy inside. The girl, believed to be a school student, was declared dead at the spot. The boy, identified as Julus Mia of Kakraban in Gomati district, was discovered with critical bullet injuries. He was immediately taken towards the hospital but succumbed to his injuries in the ambulance.
Police recovered a locally made pistol from the vehicle. SP Kumar said initial observations showed no external injuries on the girl, raising suspicions that she may have been strangled. Her school uniform and school bag were also found at the scene.
“We are suspecting a love affair matter, but we are exploring all possible angles. The exact cause of death will be known only after forensic examination,” the SP said. A forensic team has been deployed to collect and analyse evidence.
Officials said more details will emerge following the forensic report and completion of formal inquiries.
