Normal life continues in Tripura despite Bharat bandh call
Tripura remained largely unaffected on Thursday, February 12, despite the nationwide general strike called by central trade unions and various workers’ federations.
The strike had little to no visible impact across the capital city and the state, with daily life continuing uninterrupted from the early hours of the morning.
The state government had earlier announced that all government schools, colleges, offices, and courts would remain open on February 12 and function as usual. In line with this directive, attendance in both government and private offices was reported to be normal. Educational institutions also recorded a healthy turnout of students.
Commercial activities across the city proceeded without disruption. Key market areas and business establishments opened as usual, witnessing regular customer footfall throughout the day.
Public transport services, along with private vehicles, operated smoothly, ensuring hassle-free movement for office-goers and residents.
Traffic flow in the busy Battala area in Agartala remained steady, while operations at the Chandrapur Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) were also reported to be normal.
Bus and jeep drivers were present from early morning, and passenger traffic largely mirrored that of a typical day. Although there was a slight dip in long-distance travel, daily commuter movement remained consistent.
To ensure law and order, security personnel were deployed at strategic intersections and other sensitive locations across the city. However, no untoward incidents were reported.
Speaking on the matter, a senior Tripura Police official said that everything was normal.
“Vehicle was plying on road, offices, school and colleges were remained open. In 12 location across the state symbolic picketing occurred. But evryhing was normal like other days”, said Police.
