NPP delegation arrives in Tripura to back Tipra Motha Party for TTAADC polls

A high-level delegation of the National People's Party (NPP) from Meghalaya arrived in Tripura on April 8, to extend support to the Tipra Motha Party ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled for April 12.

The delegation, led by James Sangma, included MLAs Sanjay A. Sangma, Ian Botham Sangma, and MDC Stevie M. Marak. They were received by party workers and supporters at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.

Addressing the media, James Sangma said the visit reflects the NPP’s commitment to strengthening regional unity and cooperation in the Northeast. He expressed solidarity with Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, popularly known as Bubagra, whose party is contesting the elections.

“We are here to lend our full support to Bubagra and the Tipra Motha Party. We will actively participate in the campaign and extend all possible assistance,” he said.

Sangma also highlighted the vision of “One Northeast,” stressing the need for collective efforts among regional parties to address shared aspirations and challenges.

The delegation is expected to participate in multiple campaign events across TTAADC areas, signalling a strategic political collaboration ahead of the polls, which are seen as crucial for the tribal political landscape in Tripura.
