Polling begins for TTAADC elections in Tripura amid tight security
Voting for the 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) began at 7 am on April 12 amid tight security arrangements across the state.
Officials said a total of 173 candidates are in the fray, representing parties including BJP, CPI(M), Congress, Tipra Motha, and IPFT.
There are 9,62,547 registered voters who will cast their votes across 1,257 polling stations set up in the council areas.
Authorities have put in place extensive security measures to ensure peaceful polling. Area domination exercises and flag marches are being carried out in sensitive locations. A total of 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed and have already reached the state.
Officials expressed confidence that polling will be conducted in a free and fair manner.
