Tripura: 30 hospitalised in Khowai District due to suspected food poisoning

As many as 30 people from Santinagar village under Khowai Sub-division of Khowai District were admitted to the hospital after they suddenly fell ill with complaints of severe stomach ache and vomiting since June 22 late night.

Speaking to reporters, BJP MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, who rushed to the Kalyanpur Community Health Care centre, said that as many as 30 people suddenly fell ill with complaints of severe stomach ache, vomiting, and loose motion.

"Early this morning, I received information that in Santinagar village under Khowai District, several people fell ill with severe stomach aches and vomiting since last night. I immediately went to the hospital and spoke with the doctors and patients. About 30 people have fallen ill. Doctors are providing medical treatment, and while some patients are stable, they are being closely monitored. This situation arose suddenly without any preceding event," the MLA said.

A patient reported that around 12 am yesterday, she began experiencing a sudden stomach ache, fever, and vomiting.

"I don't know what caused it, as there were no events or festivals. We ate at home and went to sleep, but these symptoms appeared out of nowhere," the patient said.

Khowai Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, stated, "Since last night, patients have been arriving at the hospital with severe stomach aches and vomiting. We suspect food poisoning. They are under medical care and stable, but we will set up a camp in the area to investigate the cause of this issue."
