The seven-day-long century-old traditional Kharchi Puja began at 14 God temple known as Chaturdash Devta Mandir, in Old Agartala on July 14.
The festival is centred around the worship of Chaturdasa Devata, the ancestral deity of the Tripuri people.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha also participated in the 'Kharchi puja'.
Taking to the microblogging site X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the people of Tripura on the occasion. He wrote, "Wishing everyone, particularly the people of Tripura, on the occasion of Kharchi Puja! May the divine blessings of Chaturdash Devata always remain upon us, bringing joy and good health to all. May it also enrich everyone’s lives with prosperity and harmony."
On the other hand, DoNER minister Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote, "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to my brothers and sisters of Tripura on the auspicious occasion of Kharchi Puja. I pray to Chaturdasha Devta to bless everyone with happiness, peace, health and prosperity."
Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings. He said, "My heartfelt best wishes to our sisters and brothers in Tripura on the occasion of Kharchi Puja. May this festival of bonding with Mother Earth bring prosperity, happiness, and good health to everyone."
