Tripura Fish Festival kicks off, CM Manik Saha attends inaugural day

The Tripura Fish Festival 2024 kicked off today in Agartala amid much fanfare. The two day long festival is taking place at the Purbasha Complex in state capital Agartala. 

The inaugural day was attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha along with Tripura Fisheries Minister Sudhangsu Das and other officials and took stock of the stalls that have been set up as part of the festival at the venue. 

Speaking about the festival, CM Saha said that this festival is an attempt to boost and promote the fishery industry of the state. 

"This festival is being organised after 2019. Different stalls have been set up to get more information. The Fisheries Department has also set up a stall. There are many ponds and lakes in our state and many works are being done by the Fisheries Department," said the Tripura CM. 

Tripura Fisheries Minister Sudhangsu Das said that the main objective of the festival is to focus on the state's fish farmers and showcase their products. 

The festival, organised by the Tripura government's Ministry of Fisheries, has been taking place since 2019. The yearly festival is seen as a platform to promote the fishery industry of Tripura and give a boost to the fisheries of the state with means to expand their market in the state and beyond.
