Tripura: One held with cannabis worth Rs 1 crore in Khowai

Tripura Police on January 6 arrested one person and seized cannabis worth Rs 1 crore from Mungiakami under the Khowai District.

Addressing the issue, Officer-in-Charge Goutam Debbarma of Mungiakami Police station stated, "This morning, we received a tip-off about the smuggling of cannabis. 

Accordingly, at the 31 Mile Naka Point, we began checking vehicles and intercepted one en route to Ambassa. Upon detaining the vehicle, we conducted a search and discovered a hidden compartment where we recovered a substantial amount of cannabis. The seized cache was packed in 57 packets with a market value of Rs 1 crore."

He further informed that the truck originated from Agartala, and the police arrested the driver, identified as Rahul Kumar.
