Tripura Police seize heroin and yaba tablets worth Rs 2.5 crore; three arrested
In a major operation against narcotics trafficking, Ambassa Police under Tripura’s Dhalai district seized heroin and yaba tablets valued at more than Rs 2.5 crore and arrested three individuals late Wednesday night.
SDPO Nirupam Datta said the operation was launched on the basis of a credible intelligence input indicating that a Bolero vehicle transporting a large consignment of drugs was en route to Agartala via Ambassa. Acting swiftly, police teams established surveillance points and intercepted the vehicle at the Upanagar Naka checkpoint.
A detailed search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 137 soap cases containing approximately 1.836 kg of heroin, along with 10,000 yaba tablets. According to Datta, the seized narcotics have an estimated black-market value of around Rs 2.5 crore.
All three occupants of the vehicle were apprehended on the spot. “Further investigation is underway to identify and dismantle the wider network involved in this trafficking operation,” the SDPO said.
