Two Bihar youths held at Agartala railway station with pistol, phensidyl
In a joint operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and intelligence personnel of the Tripura Police detained two youths from Bihar and seized contraband items at Agartala Railway Station on Sunday, January 18.
Speaking to the media, DIG of Tripura Police Rati Ranjan Debnath said that the operation was carried out when the Ran Kamalapati Express arrived at Agartala Railway Station. During a search, the security personnel recovered one country-made pistol, two live rounds of ammunition, and 100 bottles of Phensidyl cough syrup from the possession of the accused.
The detained youths have been identified as Kartik Yadav and Amod, both residents of Bihar. The seized firearm, ammunition, and narcotic substances have been sent for forensic examination.
DIG Debnath said that the accused are currently being interrogated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized items. Cases have been registered against them under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
