ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has recently announced that the Centre shall work together with the state government together to resolve the issue of Chakma-Hajong.
“All illegal Chakma immigrants will be detected, moved and settled in some other places with honour. As per the constitution, the Chakmas cannot live in Arunachal because it is a tribal state. I had detailed discussion with the union home minister and we have decided to make all - out efforts to solve the long-pending problem,” said the Chief Minister.

In their joint effort, planning will be carried in working towards settling the refugees in other states thereby helping them in leading a dignified life.
"Because of this vexed issue, the Chakmas are suffering a lot. I feel sorry for them as they too are human beings,” he added.
Reportedly, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has welcomed the decision taken by the Chief Minister.
