Northeast rocked by 7 earthquakes in 7 days, states NCS

An earthquake of 3.1 magnitude hit Assam in the early hours of Saturday, making it the seventh tremor felt in the Northeast within a span of 7 days as stated by National Center for Seismology (NCS).

GUWAHATI: An earthquake of 3.1 magnitude hit Assam in the early hours of Saturday, making it the seventh tremor felt in the Northeast within a span of 7 days as stated by National Center for Seismology (NCS).

According to National Center for Seismology, the earthquake on Saturday morning struck at 7:31am in Tezpur.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:3.1, Occurred on 10-07-2021, 07:31:12 IST, Lat: 26.62 & Long: 92.45, Depth: 17 Km ,Location: 34km W of Tezpur, Assam, India", tweeted NCS.

On July 9, two tremors were felt in district of Ukhrul in Manipur and Tura in Meghalaya.

According to NCS, the earthquake in Tura occurred at 1:16pm measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale. While the jolt in Ukhrul measured 4.5 and was experienced in the early hours of July 9 at 5:56 am.

Another tremor was felt at Pangin in Arunachal Pradesh on July 8.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.8, Occurred on 08-07-2021, 18:53:26 IST, Lat: 34.83 & Long: 97.83, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 782km NNE of Pangin, Arunachal Pradesh, India", said NCS in a tweet.

Two more earthquakes of magnitude 3.7 and 5.2 rocked the Northeastern states of Meghalaya and Assam  respectively on July 7, NCS stated.

Similarly on July 4, another earthquake of magnitude 3.3 hit Imphal in Manipur at 7pm.
