The newly elected executive body of the AAPSU took oath in a grand ceremony held at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall, marking the beginning of its 2026–2029 tenure with a call for unity and regional progress.
Meje Taku was sworn in as the President after securing a decisive victory with a margin of 961 votes in the 27th general elections, the results of which were declared on April 5, 2026. Alongside him, Mato Bui took oath as the General Secretary, along with other members of the new executive team.
The newly inducted office bearers include Vice-President (West) Lukken Kukken Gamlin, Finance Secretary Zentle Mosu, Convenor Tadar Baro, and Co-convenor (Women) Reri Tajo Rai.
The event witnessed the presence of several prominent student bodies from across the Northeast, including representatives from the NESO. Advisor of the AASU, Samujjal Bhattacharya, also attended the ceremony, along with delegations from the KSU in Meghalaya and the Naga Students Federation.
Speaking to India Today, General Secretary Mato Bui said the new leadership is committed to working towards a stronger Arunachal Pradesh and restoring the prominence of AAPSU as the apex student body in the state. He emphasised unity and collective effort to address regional challenges and bring back the organisation’s “lost glory” in the coming years.
