Social activist from Arunachal Sol Dodum has raised serious allegations of large-scale corruption in the land compensation process for the Frontier Highway project in the newly created Bichom district, formerly part of East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh. Speaking at a public gathering and addressing the media, Dodum alleged that multiple government officials manipulated land records and measurement data to orchestrate a scam involving crores of rupees.
Dodum claimed that the compensation exercise lacked transparency and was riddled with irregularities. He alleged that a network of corrupt officials and middlemen fabricated land ownership documents and altered measurements to divert compensation amounts to ineligible beneficiaries. Meanwhile, many genuine landowners, he asserted, were unjustly excluded from receiving their due payments.
"The entire system has been hijacked for personal enrichment at the cost of rightful landowners. Such blatant misuse of administrative power cannot go unchecked," Dodum said.
Highlighting the magnitude of the alleged scam, he has demanded an immediate halt to the ongoing compensation distribution and called for an independent re-verification and re-measurement of all affected land parcels in the Bichom stretch of the highway project.
Dodum has also called for a comprehensive investigation into the role of the administrative officers involved, urging the state government to take strict legal action against those found guilty. "Accountability must be fixed, and stringent action is needed to prevent similar irregularities in other sections of the Frontier Highway across the state," he emphasized.
The activist further informed that he will soon take the matter to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi, apprising them of the alleged malpractice and seeking central intervention.
