The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) observed Black Day (Kala Diwas) with fervor as BJP workers burned an effigy of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to commemorate the anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975. The event took place at the BJP Arunachal Pradesh state office in Itanagar with numerous party karyakartas and Morcha Presidents in attendance.
Nyato Dukam, the Minister of Labour and Information & Public Relations (IPR), briefed the media stating the significance of the day. "The Emergency of 1975 stands as a dark chapter in the history of Indian democracy," Dukam said. "It is crucial for the younger generation to remember and understand the impact it had on the nation."
Tadar Niglar, the spokesperson for BJP Itanagar District, also addressed the media, elaborating on the importance of Kala Diwas. "Today, we remember the suppression of civil liberties and the autocratic governance that marked the Emergency period," Niglar stated.
The program saw addresses from several key figures in the BJP, including Hon'ble Minister Nyato Dukom, State Vice President Ojing Tasing, State Vice President Tarh Tarak, and BJYM President Ritemso Manyu.
