Arunachal Pradesh took a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance with the inauguration of the State Panchayat Resource Centre (SPRC) and District Panchayat Resource Centre (DPRC) at Yupia, Papum Pare under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
The centres were formally opened by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing in the presence of Capital Itanagar MLA and Advisor (UD) Techi Kaso, Daporijo MLA and Advisor (PR & RD) Er. Taniya Soki, Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav (IAS), and Secretary (RD) Sonal Swaroop (IAS). Director of Panchayati Raj Tajing Jonnom (APCS) also attended the event.
Minister Tasing said the establishment of SPRC and DPRC would serve as hubs for training, research, and capacity building for Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). He underlined that the initiative is designed to enhance the capabilities of local leaders, enabling them to deliver more effective governance at the grassroots level.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson of Papum Pare, Nabam Yakum, expressed gratitude to the Panchayati Raj department for dedicating a facility exclusively for training panchayat leaders. She reiterated her demand for a separate Panchayat Bhawan and other requirements, which the minister assured would be considered.
