The sixth edition of the Arunachal Club T20 Championship 2026–27, organised by the Itanagar Cricket Club (ICC), began at the AIOC ground in Jollang, Itanagar, with Aalo West MLA Topin Ete attending as the chief guest.
Teli Pada Camdir was present as the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
Ete welcomed the tournament and praised the organisers for providing young cricketers from Arunachal Pradesh with a platform to develop and showcase their talent. He acknowledged Itanagar Cricket Club president Advocate Suraj Tayam for his efforts to promote grassroots cricket and nurture emerging players in the state.
The championship features nine regional teams, including Nirjuli Cricket Club and Donyi Polo Cricket Academy. The participating squads comprise players from Itanagar, Nirjuli, Seppa, Aalo and other parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
The tournament aims to promote competitive cricket, identify emerging players, encourage sportsmanship and strengthen the state’s grassroots cricket infrastructure. It also provides young players an opportunity to compete against established regional talent and gain greater exposure.
The Arunachal Club T20 Championship has, since its inception, contributed to the growth of cricket in the state by creating opportunities for local players to showcase their abilities and attract wider attention.
The tournament's impact has also extended beyond cricket, with the emergence of franchise-based competitions in several other sporting disciplines across Arunachal Pradesh, reflecting growing interest in organised competitive sports among the state’s youth.
