Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated three multi-level parking facilities in the capital city, aiming to alleviate congestion and provide designated parking spaces for residents. The projects, valued at Rs 60 crore, include a 108-capacity Multi-Level Automated Car Parking at the Civil Secretariat, and two multi-storied parking facilities at ESS Sector and APSTS Bus Station, Ganga Market.
The inaugural event saw the presence of Urban Development Minister Balo Raja, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) Mayor Tamme Phassang, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, Chief Engineer of the Urban Development (UD) Department Taring Darang, and CEO of Smart City Development Corporation Dahey Sangno.
Dahey Sangno, CEO of Smart City Development Corporation, highlighted that these parking projects are part of a broader Smart City initiative, with two of them being executed by the UD Department. The automated car parking facility at the Civil Secretariat, implemented by NHIDCL and executed by SIMPARK, boasts a 108-vehicle capacity across ten floors—four underground and six above ground—and features a gym and cafeteria on the terrace. The ₹18.09 crore project is designed to benefit Civil Secretariat staff and officers who require long-term parking solutions.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer Taring Darang elaborated on the other two projects, sanctioned in September 2017 under the Social Infrastructure Development Fund (Ministry of DoNER). The ESS Sector facility offers 143 parking slots, while the APSTS Bus Station at Ganga Market features a four-level (G+5) structure with a 100-car capacity.
Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and IMC Mayor Tamme Phassang commended the Smart City Corporation and UD Department for successfully executing these projects. They urged citizens to utilize these designated parking areas to reduce roadside parking and ease traffic congestion in the city.
