Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over Rs 100 crore in the picturesque town of Mechuka, located in Shi Yomi district, just 40 km from the international border.
Upon arrival at the Advanced Landing Ground at 11 AM, CM Khandu received a warm reception.
Accompanied by local MLA and Minister for RED, Tourism, and Education, Pasang Dorjee Sona, the Chief Minister unveiled a series of key infrastructure initiatives under the Chief Minister's Comprehensive State Road Development Plan (CMCSRDP).
Key Projects Announced:
> Foundation stone for Township Road at Tato (₹24 crore)
> New motorable Bailey bridge over Yargapchu to connect Gautse river island in Mechuka (₹6.5 crore)
> Steel Composite Bridge at Tsenang to link Mechuka village (150-m span, ₹31 crore)
> Cement Concrete Road at Drongsar (₹2.5 crore)
> PWD Road to Roing village under Pidi Circle (₹12.5 crore)

In the tourism and sports sector, the CM inaugurated:
> Adventure Zone at Mechuka
> Multipurpose Sports Stadium at Monigong
> Multipurpose Indoor Hall at Mechuka
Speaking exclusively to India Today, Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona emphasised the growing tourism potential of the Shi Yomi district, highlighting Mechuka as a key destination with its scenic beauty, strategic location, and cultural richness.
Executive Engineer RWD of Shi Yomi, R. Kato, also briefed India Today on the ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects under Vibrant Village Programme and PMGSY-III, aimed at bolstering connectivity in remote areas close to the Indo-China border.
These initiatives mark a transformative step in strengthening Arunachal Pradesh's border infrastructure, improving livelihood opportunities, and attracting tourism to the frontier town of Mechuka.
